Everyday across the United States, professionally trained interpreters assist Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals to access a wide array of services–namely those in healthcare. These interpreters are what we call effective interpreters, familiar with the skills needed to accurately render spoken messages between two languages, understand terminology specific to the field, and implement the code of ethics to productively and professionally handle difficult situations. The stakes are high in medical interpretation, which is why skilled interpreters are in demand.

Bridging the Gap (BTG) is a nationally-recognized 40-hour medical interpreter training program. The Cross Cultural Healthcare Program spearheaded the program to drive their mission to increase access to culturally and linguistically appropriate health care. After becoming a licensed training organization, Maven LS adopted BTG in 2016. Our team believes BTG is a crucial professional development training for bilingual individuals interested in the field of medical interpretation and bilingual healthcare advocates, providers, and practitioners who are often expected to interpret in the workplace.
